The second-hand marketplace Users Voice Anger About Size Modifications

Shoppers are voicing their frustration following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing.

This online marketplace has revised its size classifications for female and kids' apparel without notifying all shoppers about the modification.

Online Platforms Backlash

Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display a different size category compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration.

Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.

They have suggested members to review their products and update the measurements by hand if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction.

Measurement Approach Modifications

Earlier, the sizing featured one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.

The new system has a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.

With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.

Member Accounts

Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".

"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.

Another user, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.

"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she explained.

Required Changes

Another shopper, from Derby, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".

"For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she explained.

Marketplace Information

The platform boasts over 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.

It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.

This isn't the first time when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: previously, Vinted reversed a change regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
