The network's Top New Show of 2025 Earns a Significant Renewal for an Additional Two Seasons.

In October of last year, the late-night programming block debuted a new season of its quirky hit, Smiling Friends. Yet, shortly thereafter, the network introduced a brand-new animated series with a strikingly different feel. Haha, You Clowns emerged as sweet and soothing, in the spirit of a animated take of a contemplative talk show. During a period often marked by bleakness, this show's earnestness found an audience and turned it into a breakout hit.

A Major Commitment

On December 18th, Adult Swim confirmed a big renewal: Haha, You Clowns has been picked up for two more seasons. This gives creator Joe Cappa ample opportunity to expand upon the story of the Campbell family. The show centers on three polite teenage brothers whose central trait is their strong bond for their widowed father, with Cappa providing the voices for all four main characters.

"I am incredibly thankful to the audience of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and shared it with others," stated Cappa. "It's thrilling that I get to hang out at the Campbell household for the foreseeable future."

Network Praise

In the same announcement laudits from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who called the series as "radically heartfelt and uniquely eerie." He shouted out the fans who found the show and supported its uniquely offbeat style.

"All of you supported this new show, praised it on social media, and helped it grow week over week so we could approve not one, but two more seasons," noted Ouweleen. "To quote: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Different Kind of Comedy

When it first aired, Haha, You Clowns was described as "a comforting antidote" to more cynical adult animated fare. There’s something unexpectedly cozy about observing this charming family navigate their daily lives.

At the time, creator Joe Cappa expressed his desire to move the comedy genre beyond its current layer of irony. He linked this trend to various cultural shifts.

“We're stuck in a cycle of irony that we keep returning to,” explained Cappa. “It feels as if we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for 10 years, and we need to laugh at something different now. It's time for comedy to grow.”

What Comes Next

Given this two-season order, with Haha, You Clowns guaranteed to return, Cappa has the opportunity to be part of that very evolution. Or at the very least, the renewal promises audiences additional episodes to experience the warm glow of the beloved Campbell clan.

The final episode of Season 1 of Haha, You Clowns is scheduled to air on December 21st. The complete first season is currently streaming on HBO Max.
