Six Suspects Apprehended Following €12 Million Heist on Precious Metals Facility in France

A group of six individuals equipped with assault rifles and handguns used explosive devices to breach the security of a precious metals processing plant located in Lyon, France, slightly injuring five staff members during what is being called the latest high-profile daylight theft to affect the nation.

The bold operation was carried out on the afternoon of Thursday, with officers quickly arresting the suspected perpetrators and securing the stolen items valued at approximately €12M (10.5 million pounds), according to officials.

Five workers of Laboratoires Pourquery were slightly hurt from the blast, and three employees were transported to hospital for assessment, the regional prefecture announced. Twenty-eight workers were present on-site when the perpetrators raided.

Those arrested, believed to be experienced criminals, were arrested a brief time later in the nearby town of Vénissieux, authorities revealed.

A woman involved who took part in the heist was likewise arrested, according to law enforcement.

“Six suspects who employed explosive devices in an assault targeting a metals processing plant in Lyon were apprehended red-handed,” France's security official declared on social media, commending law enforcement for their “decisiveness, speed and control”.

Military-style weapons, pistols and explosive materials were also confiscated.
