Renowned Star Pat Finn, Famed For Roles in The Middle and Friends, Passes Away at the Age of Sixty.

The actor Pat Finn had a key role in the well-loved TV show "The Middle".

Stateside entertainer Pat Finn, who featured in popular television series like Friends, "Seinfeld" and The Middle, has died at the age of 60.

The comedic improv actor succumbed at his home in LA recently after undergoing treatment for a cancer diagnosis from 2022 onward, as reported by media reports.

"Pat saw everyone as a friend - just potential friends he didn't know yet," his family shared in a statement.

They noted that he had "lived his life fully - with joy and exuberance".

A Prolific Television Career

His initial on-screen part was on the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he portrayed the titular character's brother.

He also had a regular part on Murphy Brown between 1995 and 1997.

He starred as Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in the late 90s, playing a social organizer who would assign burdensome jobs to his guests.

During the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on numerous well-known programs, like:

  • "King of Queens"
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • House, M.D.

Finn was perhaps best known for playing the character Bill Norwood in The Middle, starring in eight series between 2011 and 2018.

His cinematic roles are It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).

Off-Screen Life

Beyond his on-screen roles, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and worked as a teacher at the Colorado university, where he was an adjunct professor.

He was part of a comedy group of six known as "Beer Shark Mice".

"Finn taught, supported, and inspired countless students over the years and it would be difficult to find anyone anywhere who has an unkind word to say about him," his family wrote.

In a tribute, colleague and actor Richard Kind said there was "nobody more kind, gentle, and humorous, authentic human being you could encounter".

"Always positive, making those around him better and funnier. An excellent dad and person," he posted online.

Pat Finn is survived by his wife Donna, his children, and his parents and siblings.
