Audiences are thrilled for the chilling show It: Welcome to Derry, which is receiving positive feedback and incorporating references from other Stephen King works. Now, the network announced that the next chapter will premiere ahead of schedule, timed perfectly for Halloween.

Beginning on October 31 at 3 a.m. EST, the next part of the Derry prequel will make its debut on the streaming service, prior to its Sunday HBO premiere. Subsequent episodes of the series run will premiere on Sundays on HBO and HBO Max, building toward the concluding chapter on Sunday, December 14.

Taking place within Stephen King’s It universe, the new series draws from King’s iconic novel while enlarging the setting established by the It movie director in the recent movie adaptations. The first It movie focused on adolescents confronting unimaginable horrors, so it’s fitting that the prequel upholds that legacy. Yet, the debut of the streaming show proves it aimed to escalate the fear, providing heightened horror than the movies and establishing a dark atmosphere for the rest of the season.

Located in the early '60s, the program presents a different group of parents and youngsters residing in a outwardly charming locale concealing a sinister core. This place functions through a cruel, recurring cycle—defined by hostility, discrimination, and otherworldly forces, as a terrifying being resurfaces each 27-year cycle. Although the series might sound like it leans too heavily to the movies initially, what differentiates the HBO Max series is its two-sided viewpoint—told from the perspectives of kids and grown-ups simultaneously. Younger characters remain highly exposed to the entity's fear, but grown-ups don't escape confronting their personal demons arising from Derry’s deep-seated bigotry and hidden paranormal elements.
