Cruise Cancelled After Tragic Loss of Woman Stranded on Island

A two-month voyage circling the Australian Coast was terminated in the wake of the death of an senior lady who was stranded by the ship on a remote island.

The elderly woman had been walking on the remote island with shipmates from the cruise ship, but broke off from the party for a break. The liner departed without her and went back several hours later after the crew discovered the lady was unaccounted for.

A major rescue mission located her remains the subsequent day.

Investigative bodies are investigating the incident, together with law enforcement and the state coroner.

Chief Executive of the shipping company said that passengers and personnel on the Coral Adventurer were told that the remainder of the cruise had been called off due to the "sad loss and prior technical problems".

The daughter of the victim said that her relatives was "shocked and distressed that the ship left the location after an organised excursion without my mother".

Through her comments, she described her mum as an "energetic 80-year-old" who was a member of a walking organization.

"According to scant information we have been informed, it looks that there was a failure of attention and ordinary reasoning," she said.

She continued that she desired the inquiry would be able to determine what "the organization should have undertaken that might have protected Mother's being".

"According to reports from the police that it was a very hot day, and she fell ill on the mountain ascent," she stated.

"They requested her to go back, alone. Then the vessel left, apparently without performing a headcount.

"At a certain moment in that process, or shortly after, she passed away, without company."

Through an announcement, the Chief Executive affirmed that the operator was "cooperating fully with officials to support their inquiry".

He mentioned that the organization was "deeply sorry that this has transpired" and had extended its full support to the loved ones.

The liner accommodates up to 120 guests with nearly fifty crew, according to company information. It was specifically designed to reach isolated areas of Australia's coastline and is outfitted with "tenders" - small boats used to take travelers on land visits.
