Both Deceased Students Revealed in Brown University Attack as Law Enforcement Continue Manhunt for Gunman.

The pair of scholars who were killed in the weekend's tragic incident in Providence had tributes paid to them on Monday – amid a widespread hunt for their assailant persisted following the freeing by local law enforcement of the single suspect questioned in the case.

Honoring a Lost Student

Ella Cook, a second-year scholar from Alabama, was called “a wonderful, steady, devout, shining presence”, per the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which offered condolences for her at a gathering on Sunday.

Cook was the vice-presidency of Brown’s chapter of the campus GOP group, the group said. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also posted condolences publicly, saying in part: “Words cannot express. Keeping in mind her loved ones and companions, particularly her mother and father.”

The Second Victim

The second fatality was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov from Uzbekistan, an Uzbek national in his first year of studies at the renowned school, according to relatives.

Umurzokov’s identity was officially acknowledged by Uzbekistan’s foreign ministry.

“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. His ambitions were lofty of becoming a neurosurgeon and aiding others,” Samira Umurzokova, his sister said in a tribute.

Details of the Attack

Nine other people were wounded in the weekend shooting in the engineering department of Brown’s grounds in Providence, during the school’s final exam period.

Authorities said late Sunday that a man aged 24 taken into custody in a raid at a lodging about 17 miles from the university earlier in the day was set to be freed.

“We have a murderer out there,” stated Rhode Island’s attorney general, Peter Neronha.

He added, “Investigations can lead one way, and then you have to regroup and pursue a different angle, and that is the current situation over the last approximately one day.”

Community Anxiety

Brett Smiley, Brett Smiley, admitted: “This will probably generate fresh anxiety for our community”.

The assailant discharged a weapon inside a classroom in the building on Saturday afternoon, firing more than 40 rounds from a handgun, a law enforcement official told the media outlet.

Law enforcement that raided the lodging found two firearms and two ammunition clips when the person of interest was arrested, according to reports.

The Wounded Victims

Of the nine hurt, a single scholar was allowed to go home, said Brown’s president, Christina Paxson. Seven more were in grave but unchanging health, and one was in critical condition, police said on Sunday.

A private school, a private academy in North Carolina, said a former student, Kendall Turner, was one of the critically injured.

Cook was honored at a religious service in Birmingham on Sunday. A clergyman said, “Her presence was a wonderful, steady, pious glow not only in her youth... but at the university she was a radiant presence in that institution as well.”

Martin Bertao, Martin Bertao, released remarks from the club. “Ella was known for her bold, brave, and kind heart as she aided her club and peers,” he said.

The US ambassador, Jonathan Henick, said he was “deeply saddened” by the student's death in a tribute. “Our profound condolences go out to the Umurzokov family, friends, and peers and lament the passing of his bright future.”

The weekend's murders at Brown, the seventh oldest in the US college with about thousands of bachelor's and postgraduate students, happened during one of at least 392 shooting incidents documented across the United States so far in this year, according to statistics. The following Monday was the 349th day of the year.
